residential treatment for adolescents
coming soon | residential treatment for adolescents at galen hope
Galen Hope offers specialized treatment for adolescents experiencing mental health conditions, eating disorders, or complex dual mental health diagnoses (such as ADHD + anxiety, OCD + anorexia, bipolar disorder + PTSD).
We are proud to announce we are expanding our continuum of care to provide a deeper, more immersive level of support with the upcoming launch of our residential treatment program, uniquely designed for adolescents.
At Galen Hope, we understand that every journey to healing is unique. We believe healing happens through connection—within ourselves, with others, and in community. That’s why this level of care can be life-saving. It is often the turning point between isolation and connection, chaos and coherence, despair and hope.
a safe, supportive environment for healing
Our residential treatment program for adolescents will offer a structured, compassionate, home-like environment where adolescents can heal with 24/7 clinical support from an expert, physician-led multidisciplinary team: psychiatrist, internal medicine physician, registered nurse, primary therapist, care partner, and registered dietitian. Each day begins at our residence and includes full-day therapeutic programming at our Coral Gables facility and, as soon as is appropriate, out in the community.
rebuilding trust in residential treatment
For some families, residential treatment carries uncertainty, especially in light of concerning stories about programs that are understaffed, disconnected, or lacking in oversight. For others, this may be their first time considering this level of care.
At Galen Hope, we understand the weight of this decision. That’s why we approach every element of our program with one guiding question: “If this were our child, what would we want for them?”
We’ve drawn from over two decades of experience building highly regarded programs to design a residential experience rooted in respect, clinical excellence, and genuine human connection. Whether you are approaching treatment with hope, hesitation, or both, we assure you we are committed to showing what residential treatment can and should be: ethical, evidence-based, trauma-informed, family-centered, and above all, deeply compassionate.

what makes galen hope so unique?
- Expertise in both mental health and eating disorders: Developed by Wendy Oliver-Pyatt, MD, and Amy Boyers, PhD, Galen Hope clinicians are specifically trained in proven methods and strategies for working through a wide range of diagnoses and presentations. Our extensive experience enables us to effective treat primary mental health conditions, primary eating disorders, and complex dual mental health diagnoses. This allows for a more inclusive and adaptable treatment experience. Our care and services are neurodiversity-affirming.
- Settings designed for healing: Our residence for adolescents is being thoughtfully designed to feel safe, welcoming, and supportive. Our treatment center features warm, non-institutional furnishings and decor. With a high staff-to-client ratio, chef-prepared meals, and personalized academic support, Galen Hope fosters an environment where adolescents feel seen, cared for, and empowered to heal.
- The care partner model: Exclusive to Galen Hope, our Care Partners (CPs) are trained therapeutic mentors who offer consistent, personalized support and guidance. They help clients apply newly learned skills and healthy coping strategies to real-life challenges—both within our center and, when clinically appropriate, out in the community. This model blends peer-style connection with clinical intention and exceeds the typical role of behavioral health techs. Each client is paired with a dedicated CP who remains with them througout their recovery journey at Galen Hope.
- Community reintegration starts early: We don’t wait until adolescents are nearing discharge to start preparing them for real life. Galen Hope integrates therapeutic outings and community-based experiences early in treatment, helping clients build confidence and independence through lived experience, not just group discussion.
- Deeply engaged family programming: We go beyond basic family therapy with caregiver coaching, support groups, family days, workshops, and chosen family inclusion, ensuring families are equipped to support lasting change.
- Seamless continuity of care across all levels: Clients can seamlessly step down to Galen Hope’s in-house PHP and IOP while staying with the same care partner, ensuring therapeutic consistency and a smoother transition than most programs offer.
- Transparency and trust: Residential treatment can be overwhelming and, at times, misunderstood. Galen Hope is committed to rebuilding trust in the treatment experience through ethical, transparent, and clinically excellent care. We meet families with honesty and heart.
discharge & aftercare planning
At Galen Hope, we know healing doesn’t end with residential treatment. As each adolescent gains stability and confidence in their recovery, we work closely with their family to plan the next phase of care with intention and support.
Discharge and aftercare planning includes:
- Comprehensive step-down plan with clear clinical goals
- Referrals to trusted outpatient providers, as needed
- Academic reintegration support
- Personalized meal and movement plans
- Ongoing family guidance
continuing the journey: stepping down with support
When clinically appropriate, clients can seamlessly transition into Galen Hope’s partial hospitalization (PHP) or intensive outpatient (IOP) programs. This allows them to maintain continuity with the same trusted care team while gradually adjusting to more real-world demands.
This transition is carefully planned in collaboration with the adolescent, their family, and their care team. Step-down care allows for continued therapeutic work, academic support, and community integration, all while building confidence and resilience in a less structured environment.
